Irfan scores again in win over Timor Leste

The Singapore Under-23s recorded their second win in four days when they beat Timor Leste U-23 2-0 in a closed-door friendly at the Jalan Besar Stadium last night.

The Young Lions opened the scoring through a Shahfiq Ghani free-kick in the 18th minute before striker Irfan Fandi sealed the win with a bullet header six minutes from time.

Irfan was also on the scoresheet when Aide Iskandar's charges beat Laos Under-23 5-1 last Saturday.

The 17-year-old has now scored three goals in four appearances, with his first coming in the 2-1 defeat by Japanese fourth division side Azul Claro Numazu in the first friendly match of their Japan tour earlier this month.

"It was a good result for us, and the boys put in a good performance," said Young Lions assistant coach S. Subramani.

Singapore will open their SEA Games campaign against the Philippines on Monday at the Jalan Besar Stadium. Get your tickets from https://tickets.seagames2015.com.
