'Jubilee' - a JC name that will resonate with S'poreans

Although the name "Eunoia" - chosen for a new junior college to open next year - has a beautiful meaning, it is Greek to many people in Singapore ("New JC name lacks local relevance, historical context" by Ms Estella Young; last Thursday).
It sounds too foreign and does not resonate with Singaporeans, some of whom may have difficulty spelling and pronouncing it.
The school is being launched after a glorious year-long SG50 celebration.
It was indeed a very special anniversary, full of jubilation and rejoicing. It was also an occasion for much thanksgiving.
The word that encapsulates all these meaningful expressions that will resonate with all Singaporeans is "Jubilee".
Thus, I suggest that the new school be named Jubilee Junior College.
A former primary school of the same name has closed, so there will be no confusion.
The name Jubilee will also be inspirational. It will motivate the younger generation to build upon the achievements of our pioneers, with renewed vigour and confidence.
