Juma'at eyes S-League title

He is a veteran of Singapore football, and collected 29 international caps, but Juma'at Jantan does not have an S-League winners' medal.

"I am turning 30 very soon and have never won an S-League title. Hopefully, I can do it at least once before the end of his career," said the fullback, on the sidelines of the Puma evoPOWER boots at the Kovan Sports Centre yesterday.

The Home United player believes the Protectors have a good chance of dethroning Tampines Rovers this season.

The 2013 RHB Singapore Cup champions have retained key players like Sirina Camara and last season's Player of the Year, Lee Kwan Woo.

They have also signed the likes of Bruno Castanheira, Izzdin Shafiq, Fazrul Nawaz, Fazli Ayob and Yasir Hanapi.

Said Juma'at: "Our pre-season has been very good - the senior players and the newbies have gelled well and some of them, while young, are quite experienced and I am sure they can step up this year."

Juma'at was at yesterday's Puma launch with some of his teammates, Hougang United's Erwan Gunawan and LionsXII captain Isa Halim.

On the new boots, Juma'at said: "The new boots are very comfortable, very flexible, and it's like I'm kicking the ball barefoot when I wear them. They are perfect."
