Liverpool FC Legends arrive in Singapore

The Liverpool Masters team, including former England national, Emile Heskey, has arrived in Singapore ahead of this Saturday's The Castlewood Group Liverpool Masters. Speaking to the media at the official pre-match press conference, Liverpool FC Legends Robbie Fowler and Steve McManaman expressed their delight in returning to one of their favourite destinations in Asia and playing the Singapore Ex-Internationals.

Returning to play at one of his favourite cities, Robbie Fowler shared, "Masters Football Asia always put together a great event, and together with Castlewood they ensure that we are well-looked after. As players, when we are looked after, it makes a great thing and we always want to come back. Of course with Liverpool's support and the Singapore fans, we always want to come back. We travelled around the world and everywhere we go we do get so much support, passion and drive from fans, we are really very thankful for them."

"It's wonderful to see the Premier League as a whole is huge in the far east region so whether we are in Thailand or in Singapore, Jakarta or Malaysia, we always get so much support. It's always great to be here, great to see everybody and I know it will be a wonderful occasion, particularly on Saturday!" added Steve McManaman.

The Castlewood Group Liverpool Masters marks the first time both teams will play against each other in a full field, 11-a-side match. More than 90 per cent of the tickets to the game, which will also be local-hero Aleksandar Duric's testimonial match, have been sold. Looking forward to his return to the football pitch and playing in front of his brother, whom he has not seen for close to a decade, Duric said, "I'm really looking forward to Saturday's match and playing with the legends on both sides. Two weeks ago I played my last professional match and it was very emotional, so to know that I'll be playing on the same pitch again will definitely evoke some feelings. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Chris Comer for bringing my brother here to watch me play for the first and last time."

Chris Comer, Chief Executive Officer and Property Developer, Castlewood Group, said, "Being the title sponsor of this year's Masters is truly a dream come true by having my childhood hometown Liverpool legends play against my new home Singapore's local heroes. It's been a great week with all of the stars giving back to the community through school football clinics and public outings, and we see a real opportunity for more businesses to get involved in bringing similar world-class sporting events to Singapore to support the government's initiatives encouraging local participation."

Four lucky fans who bought tickets to the match were also at the press conference to accept their prizes - The Ultimate Castlewood Experience and The Masters Football Asia Experience. Winners of both experiences will be treated to exclusive sessions with players as they embark on a series of activities throughout Saturday, leading up to the match in the evening.

Steve Black, Chief Executive Officer, Masters Football Asia shared, "The response this year from the sponsors and the public has been extremely encouraging, and we are already starting to plan for next year. We hope to continue working with our partners and sponsors to bring high quality, entertaining football to Singapore."
