Look out for Barcelos

Nando's knows how to make an impact.

It made a huge one the last time it worked with The New Paper Big Walk in 2012.

Its booth was a popular stop, with crowds wanting a photo with the Barcelos Cockerel mascot.

It was a fun and energetic experience.

Nando's looks set to make the same impact on Nov 30 at Big Walk 2014, presented by Singapore Turf Club.

This year, all walkers get a Nando's voucher worth $10.90 in the goodie bag. This is for you to redeem a quarter chicken at any Nando's outlet.

Nando's is located across Singapore with branches at Bugis Junction, JCube, Plaza Singapura, Tampines Mall and The Star Vista.

While you are there, order a promotional platter and you will get a limited edition Nando's Wefie stick.

This will come in handy at Big Walk 2014 because this year's walk takes you across the picturesque Benjamin Sheares Bridge.

Along the way, look out for Barcelos Cockerel, who will be walking with you.

BE THE FIRST 4,000

The first 4,000 walkers at the post-walk carnival will get to sample free peri-peri chicken at the Marina Bay Floating Platform, the end point of the 5km walk.

Nando's will also give vouchers to those who have downloaded its mobile app.

So make sure you visit its booth when you cross the finish line.

Feast on these

If you are still hungry after being fed by Nando's and your thirst has been quenched by H-Two-O at the Big Walk 14's finish line, there are other options within walking distance.

After all, since you have already walked 5km, you might as well walk a bit more and have a nice brunch.

DIM SUM

Enjoy a weekend dim sum buffet (11.30am to 2.30pm on weekends) at Pan Pacific Singapore's Hai Tien Lo at $68 per person.

It features items such as braised whole abalone with bean curd, stir-fried carrot cake and double-boiled mini Buddha Jumps Over The Wall.

But if you would rather eat light, pop into Din Tai Fung at Suntec City Mall for a quick bite.

BUFFET BRUNCH

If you feel like you must reward yourself for a morning of walking, head to AquaMarine at Marina Mandarin Hotel. This halal hotel buffet restaurant features lunch at $50, from noon to 4pm.

Or try Oscar's (at Conrad Centennial Singapore) Sunday Amazing Grace brunch ($158, with free flow of alcohol). The caesar salad is always good there.

SWEET END

For those with a sweet tooth, get a slice of cake at O'Coffee Club at Millenia Walk. The crumble aux pommes a la glace vanille (baked green apple chunks with cinnamon and vanilla ice cream, left) will be nice with coffee.
