LTA conducts regular checks for footway obstruction

We thank Ms Amy Loh Chee Seen for her feedback ("Commercial outlets 'taking over' five-foot ways"; Jan 18).

The Land Transport Authority carries out regular inspections and also responds to public feedback on footway obstruction problems.

In cases of footway obstruction that impedes pedestrian movement, we will take enforcement action.

Keeping five-foot ways free of obstruction ensures pedestrians do not need to walk along roads with traffic.

We will continue to monitor and step up enforcement against recalcitrant offenders, to ensure that pedestrian safety is not compromised.
