M1 introduces unlimited in-flight data roaming service for customers

SINGAPORE - M1 has announced in-flight data roaming service for its customers.

Customers who are logged on to the service provider's preferred in-flight network - OnAir - can access unlimited data roaming when travelling by 18 airlines, including Singapore Airlines, British Airways, Emirates and Thai Airways.

The service costs $0.20 per 10KB, capped at $25 per day, for roaming subscription customers, and $0.24 per 10KB, capped at $30 per day for pay-per-use customers.

M1's 'Network Lock' feature also aims to protect customers from unintended usage and charges on non-preferred networks.

M1's Chief Marketing Officer P. Subramaniam said: "Now we can stay connected wherever we go, even while in the air. With our affordable in-flight data roaming service, travellers can stay in touch with their loved ones, answer important e-mails or simply get the latest social media updates."

Local service provider Starhub also offers international roaming subscribers unlimited roaming data usage for each SIM card at $25 per day, while a 20 per cent surcharge applies for pay-as-you-roam subscribers.
