SINAGPORE- Singapore's main contingent of SEA Games officials and athletes from swimming, archery, and cycling arrived in good spirits in Myanmar yesterday.

Checking into the athletes' village in Naypyidaw, they were greeted by the sights of simple two-storey housing apartments resembling chalet bungalows of old Singapore.

The athletes are housed in clusters and Singapore was allocated cluster four, along with the Laotian contingent.

The wide area of the village requires residents to board shuttle buses to get from their dormitories to other areas such as the cookhouse, the gym and the entertainment stage.

Some of Singapore's athletes who have been there for a few days were content with the living conditions.

Said water polo player Lim Yaoxiang: "All the basic facilities are here and everything is clean.

"We don't expect anything too high-end and we basically have everything that we need here."

Added wushu team manager Chan Keng Ngee: "Myanmar are hosting this Games with their hearts, so we won't complain."
