PUTRAJAYA - Travellers are warned of possible interruptions to their flight plans due to poor visibility that is caused by the haze.
Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has advised its passengers of possible last minute flight cancellations and retiming of flights due to the haze.
MAS is also watching five airports for possible closure or interruptions should the haze worsened.
They are Kuantan's Sultan Ahmad Shah Airport, Kota Baru's Sultan Ismail Petra Airport, Kuala Terengganu's Sultan Mahmud Airport, Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Kota Kinabalu International Airport.
"Malaysia Airlines is working closely with airport authorities in monitoring the situation and will adjust our flight operations into and out of the affected airports when necessary. "Safety is of paramount importance (and) ensuring our guests reach their destination safely will always be our main priority," MAS Director of Operations Captain Izham Ismail said in a statement Monday.
He added that the national airlines has formed a haze secretariat to monitor the situation on an hourly basis and provide updates three times daily.
Status of MAS flights can be checked on the company's website or via the toll free number 1300 88 3000.
