Malaysia jails kindergarten teacher for supporting IS

KUALA LUMPUR - A kindergarten teacher was jailed two years by a High Court here for giving support to the Islamic State (IS) militant group.

Justice Ab Karim Ab Rahman handed down the sentence after Nazhatulshima Sahak, 45, pleaded guilty to the charge Friday.

Nazhatulshima was accused of buying a flight ticket to board a flight from KL International Airport to Istanbul, Turkey with the intention of entering Syria later in an attempt to provide support to IS.

The offence was committed at a restaurant in Section 7, Shah Alam, on Oct 13, 2014.
