SIBU - Twelve passengers in an express bus should thank their lucky stars that they managed to escape serious injuries when the bus crashed and landed on its side along the Pan Borneo Highway on Jalan Tamin-Selangau.
Sibu Fire and Rescue Department chief, Norhasrita Abd Manan said in the 12.30am Wednesday (March 13) incident, only one passenger, an Indonesian, was injured while the other 11 passengers and the bus driver escaped unscathed.
"The injured man has been sent to Sibu Hospital for treatment," she said, adding that the bus was travelling from Miri to Kuching when the accident occurred.
The department received a distress call at 1.35am and rushed several firemen in two engines to the scene, arriving an hour later.
"All victims were still stuck in the bus when firemen came. They were later brought out to safety," she added.
