KUALA LUMPUR - The two Singaporeans and a Taiwan national who were hospitalised for alleged drug overdose during Future Music Festival Asia (FMFA) have been discharged.
Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohan Singh said 12 people were still receiving medical treatment.
"We have arrested 14 locals and 15 foreigners who were at the festival for drug abuse. Following investigations, we charged one, freed one, while 10 more have been granted police bail," he said, adding that 17 others had been remanded.
Six people died while three others were in critical condition due to methamphetamine overdose during the FMFA at Bukit Jalil Stadium on Friday. One person died on the spot and another died on the way to hospital.
Four others died at the University Malaya Medical Centre and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital.
The six who died were identified as Kamal Zekry Kamal Basha, 22, Victor Wong E Hern, 26, Sabreena Kamaruddin, 21, M. Suresh, 28, Syazana Sohaime, 23, and Nor Faizza Mohd Wazir, 27.
The second and last day of the festival was cancelled on the advice of the police. The organisers said details on refunds would be announced within a week and that ticket buyers should log on to www.futuremusicfestival.asia for updates.
