KUANTAN - Police have arrested nine persons to assist investigations into the murder of a 14-year-old girl in Bera in late October.
Pahang Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Asst Comm Othman Nayan said that among those arrested, two teenagers aged 15 and 17 were directly involved in the incident.
He said the arrests were made over the course of 62 days of investigations.
"The two teenagers will be charged at the court in Temerloh on Friday (Dec 29)," said SAC Othman in a statement on Thursday (Dec 28).
He said that on Oct 26, members of the public saw a body of girl on the surface of Sungai Triang, Bera, while crossing over the bridge of the river.
SAC Othman added that family members identified the body of the 14-year-old girl.
"The autopsy showed 45 stabs to the chest, abdomen, back of the body, both the arms and legs which caused injury to the lungs, and are believed to have been caused by a knife.
"The cause of death is due to multiple stab wounds to the torso," he added.
