3 teens killed in highway crash

A high-speed motorcycle race along Selangor's Guthrie Corridor Expressway on Saturday ended with three teenagers dead and two in critical condition.

The police said the first crash occurred at 1am at the highway's 20.4km mark, where two teenage boys were racing. One of them lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the other motorcyclist, reported The Star.

They then hit a Mazda CX5 car that was south-bound on the same lane as the motorcyclists.

"Not far behind was another group of three teenagers on motorcycles that were also travelling at high speeds. Due to the earlier accident, these guys could not avoid the victims in time and also crashed into them," said Sungai Buloh police spokesman Superintendent Junaidi Bujang.

"The impact sent two motorcyclists from the second group flying. One hit the hard pavement while the other was thrown off the flyover. Both were killed instantly."

TOWED

The Mazda car was towed from the accident site.

Another motorcyclist died while being rushed to the Sungai Buloh Hospital at 3am, while the other two, aged 16 and 20, were in critical condition.

The driver of the car, Ms Nur Hasmimi Hassan, 36, escaped uninjured.

The incident is being investigated as a case of reckless driving.
