34 injured due to turbulence on MAS flight

PETALING JAYA - Severe turbulence during a Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight from London to Kuala Lumpur caused around 34 people to be injured.

According to a statement by MAS, MH1 encountered turbulence over the Bay of Bengal during its flight from Heathrow on Sunday.

"During the flight, the passenger seatbelt light was turned on due to air turbulence," said MAS.

However, a brief moment of severe turbulence caused some passengers and crew to suffer minor injuries.

MAS said a medical team and MAS senior management met the aircraft on arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport when it landed around 6.10pm.

"A small number of affected passengers and crew have been treated by medical officers. Malaysia Airlines has assisted the 378 passengers and crew onboard MH1 and sincerely apologises for any inconvenience caused by this weather event," said MAS
