40 pole dancers offering 'extra services' arrested

A midnight raid by the Anti-Vice, Gambling and Secret Society Division (D7) from Bukit Aman on an entertainment centre in Petaling Jaya has led to the arrest of 40 pole dancers.

Berita Harian quoted Asst Supt Mohammad Md Jais as saying that the dancers would offer sexual services to patrons at additional charges.

"Their fee ranged between RM50 and RM1,000," he said, adding that a dancer's fee was indicated by the colour of the sash that she wore.

ASP Mohammad, who led the raid, said the pole dancing performances and "extra" services were only offered on Wednesdays to avoid police detection.

During the raid, there were about 60 customers at the premises, he said.

Most of the pole dancers were Thai nationals.

The manager of the entertainment centre has also been detained.
