KUALA LUMPUR - Umno is monitoring seven leaders and they could face disciplinary action, said Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

He was answering a question from the press on whether Umno would take action against former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who has called on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to resign.

"On Mahathir who wanted Najib's resignation, that is his own opinion. Recently, I see in various websites that he (Dr Mahathir) has begun to attack me."

He did not identify the seven leaders. He also said that the media should stop pitting old and new leaders against each other. "Enough is enough," he said.

Tengku Adnan also said the problems faced by the current administration should be handled by current leaders.

"We do not need former leaders to intervene. We know how to handle our problems.

"Just like Tun (Dr Mahathir), his term has ended, so enough is enough. When former MCA president Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik said Najib should step down, I too do not think this will weaken the PM but instead, it will strengthen him."
