JOHOR BARU - Moving curtains on a bus at the Iskandar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex here gave away eight people who were trying to avoid having their passports stamped.
The eight - all Malaysians - had laid down on the floor of their factory bus to avoid detection when all the other passengers disembarked to get their passports stamped at the CIQ complex.
However, alert Immigration officers saw the curtains inside the bus "mysteriously moving" and boarded the vehicle and found the eight.
They were among a busload of 44 workers heading for work in Singapore.
All those arrested are being investigated under Section 2(2) of the Passport Act 1966 for sneaking out of the country.
They now face a fine of up to RM10,000 or five years in prison or both.
