GEORGE TOWN - Police are looking for a man who slapped a female cashier for refusing to sell him "more cooking oil".

Balik Pulau OCPD Supt A.A. Anbalagan said they had identified the man whose aggressive act was captured in a 16-second video that has since gone viral.

He said the man wanted to buy three packets of cooking oil weighing 1kg each at the mini market in Bayan Lepas.

"But when the cashier told him that each customer could only buy two packets, he flew into a rage and hit her on the head.

"He even threatened her 'lu jaga' (you better watch out) before leaving.

"Fearing for her safety, the 29-year-old woman lodged a police report," said Supt Anbalagan, adding that the case was being investigated for voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation.

Bayan Lepas assemblyman Azrul Mahathir Aziz expressed dismay over the incident, saying there was a need for mutual respect to maintain peace in the community.

"This issue is beyond race and action must be taken against the perpetrator," he said in a statement issued yesterday.
