KAJANG - Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he drew strength to face his sodomy conviction from the devotion and commitment of his wife and children.
Just hours after being convicted by the Court of Appeal on Friday night, Anwar told a large crowd that Datuk Seri Wan Azizah's loyalty meant much to him and was the reason why he remained strong in facing this challenge.
"When I look at Azizah and my children, I feel for them. I'm only human. But I am strong to face all this because I have their love," he told a large crowd gathered at Pakatan Rakyat's main operations room for the Kajang by-election.
The Court of Appeal overturned Anwar's acquittal and found him guilty of sodomising his former aide in 2008.
Anwar, who was a picture of calm instead of his usual fiery self, could even quip that his youngest daughter Nurul Hana was seven when he was sent to prison in 1998 and that he was going to jail again when his granddaughter was the same age.
