The balik kampung journey is what most Malaysians look forward to every festive season.
To capture that happiness, especially with the coming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, Malaysia Airlines released a special Hari Raya video on Sunday.
Titled Sama-Sama Balik Raya (Let's go back for Raya), the two-minute 40-second-long video seeks to find out the reason why we travel back to our hometowns for Hari Raya although we feel the experience is similar each time.
Malaysia Airlines group chief executive officer Izham Ismail said the answer is what warms our hearts as Malaysians.
"As an airline, it is Malaysian hospitality. The festivities begin the moment we start our journey home. We see the same people, we visit familiar places, eat the same food.
"We take pride in being a part of our guests' balik kampung journey.
"To us, nothing is more rewarding than to ensure they arrive home safely and be reunited with their families and loved ones for the festive season," he said in a statement yesterday.
The festive video can be viewed on Malaysia Airlines' official social media channels.
In the spirit of Hari Raya, Malaysia Airlines is also running a social media campaign #MHFundMyBalikKampung until May 29 aimed at uniting families for the festive season.
The winner that writes the most unique caption and who gets the most votes will receive return tickets home on Malaysia Airlines for Hari Raya this year.
To join, participants will have to post a photo with a caption of their balik kampung story on their Instagram.
They will need to share the reasons why they are unable to go home to their loved ones.
They must also include both departure and arrival destinations in the caption.
Then, they should tag the campaign at @MHFundMyBalikKampung and include the hashtags #MalaysiaAirlines and #MHFundMyBalikKampung in the caption.
Participants must also make sure their profile is set to public until May 30 for their submissions to be eligible.
Next, Malaysia Airlines will repost the photos as well as captions on the @MHFundMyBalikKampung profile, where participants can invite friends and family to vote by liking it once their posts have been featured.
Meanwhile, Malaysia Airlines reminded its passengers to check in by logging on to www.malaysiaairlines.com or via its app to avoid facing long queues at the airport.
Passengers are also encouraged to arrive at least four hours early at KL International Airport (KLIA) and three hours at other domestic airports before their scheduled departure times in order to clear all travel formalities.
