Boy claims he was sexually assaulted

MALACCA - A 16-year-old boy has claimed that he was assaulted with the tip of a broomstick up his anus by a senior at a boy's hostel in Johor Baru.

The assault allegedly took place a few weeks before the school break in November.

The boy's mother said her son had been suffering in silence following the bullying by the senior.

"He had kept this painful ordeal to himself for some time. When he returned home for the school holidays on Dec 15, I knew something was not right because my son is a talkative person," she said yesterday.

The 44-year-old businesswoman said it was only on the second week of the holidays that her son finally confided in her.

"I was horrified when he told me that he had been sexually assaulted by his senior.

"He told us that he bled for three days after the abuse.

"When my husband came back, we took him to a public hospital where the doctors confirmed that my son has suffered severe and visible injury to his anus," she said, adding that she lodged a report at the Bandar Seri Alam police station on Dec 28.

The woman, who is from Bandar Seri Alam, Masai, Johor, said she had sent her son to the hostel because he was an unruly child.

"I wanted him to be moulded into a well-disciplined boy and that was the reason I enrolled him in the school. Now, my son is traumatised," she said.

The incident was also reported to Kota Melaka MCA chief Ronald Gan, who later sent a legal team to Johor Baru to investigate the matter.

The family was formerly from Malacca.

The centre, said Gan, was managed by the Welfare Department and an official complaint would be submitted to the department.

"MCA is keen to follow up on this matter as we want to avoid further abuse at the hostel," he said.
