Bulldogs' owner released on bail

SEREMBAN - The owner of the American bulldogs that mauled an Indonesian maid and bit two men, including a policeman, was released on police bail yesterday.

The farmer, in his 50s, has been held at the Nilai police headquarters since the incident on Wednesday.

Nilai police chief Superintendent Abdullah Roning said the remand order ended yesterday.

"He was released at noon. Police will refer the case to the deputy public prosecutor on Monday."

Nilai Municipal Council president Datuk Abd Halim Abd Latif said the council viewed the attack seriously, even though it did not have any by-laws to stop a recurrence of such an incident.

In the incident, an Indonesian maid lost part of her scalp, while two locals, including a police officer, were injured in the attack in Kampung Masjid Lenggeng, near here.
