GEORGE TOWN - A businessman who allegedly sent life-threatening letters and bullets to extort money from his prospective victims has been nabbed.
The 43-year-old man was arrested following a tip-off at an entertainment outlet in Batu Ferringhi, near here, at about 1.30am yesterday.
It is learnt that police had received 15 police reports, mainly from businessmen who claimed they were asked to pay tens of thousands of ringgit in return for their safety.
Penang deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk A. Thaiveegan said they were investigating how the suspect obtained the bullets.
"We are not sure of the amount he managed to extort from his victims," he said.
