Cabbies in Kuala Lumpur attack Uber and GrabCar drivers, force passengers to alight

Cabbies in Malaysia have been caught on video while attacking Uber and GrabCar drivers at the Kuala Lumpur City Centre.

In a video clip shared on Facebook, a man can be heard saying: "That's the story if you drive a GrabCar or Uber taxi", as a few cabbies proceed to threaten Uber and GrabCar drivers by stopping their vehicles.

As the cabbies approach another GrabCar vehicle, one of them told the driver: "All of us are taxi drivers, I also want to eat, I pay everyday."

They are then seen forcing the passenger to alight from the car.

At the end of the video, the man says: "With that, don't you dare drive a GrabCar or Uber taxi, there are taxi drivers out there."

Meanwhile, Facebook user Elton Poh has commented on the incident in a post on Oct 9:

"Is this the kind of Malaysians we want as representatives to ferry tourists and expats around?"

"Every single person who watches this video will agree whole-heartedly that the cabbies' actions are not acceptable at all."

Uber and GrabCar are transportation network companies that allow costumers to book car rides using mobile apps.

Unlike regular taxis that are flagged down on the roads, they allow customers to submit a trip request, which is then routed to drivers who use their own cars to pick up passengers.
