YAN, Malaysia - The Chinese voters in Sungai Limau can be assured of having a better future with the Barisan Nasional, says MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek.
He said the MCA and the Barisan would give their full attention to the Chinese community in Sungai Limau if they win the by-election.
Although the 1,838 Chinese voters here make only about 7 per cent of the 27,200 total voters in the state seat, they still mean a lot to the Barisan, he added.
"Chinese votes are crucial for a Barisan victory. More importantly is that by having a Barisan assemblyman here, the people can be assured that their representative can serve the people better," he said.
Dr Chua said Pakatan Rakyat was only good at talking, but had failed to deliver their promises.
Meanwhile, MCA secretary-general Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha said Pakatan's tactics had always been about winning an election and forgetting the people they were supposed to serve when it was over.
He said the Chinese who were taken in by Pakatan's battle cry for change in the 13th general election found themselves left to bear the consequences of being perceived as anti-Barisan after Pakatan failed to win the last elections.
MCA young professionals bureau chief Datuk Chua Tee Yong said voters should choose a better life under the Barisan.
The MCA leaders also attended a dinner with the Chinese community on Friday to garner support for Dr Ahmad Sohaimi Lazim.
