Cops looking for family of woman who died giving birth in Malaysia hotel room

KOTA KINABALU: The police are trying to find the family of a woman who is believed to have died after giving birth in a hotel room here on Tuesday morning.

The woman was found by housekeeping staff lying in a pool of blood with her newborn baby boy, who survived, at about 9.06am.

She is believed to have been in her 20s.

Kota Kinabalu police chief Asst Comm M. Chandra said they were trying to ascertain the identity of the woman.

ACP Chandra said that medical officials suspect that the woman died due to blood loss, adding that the newborn was in good condition.

"The mother has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a postmortem while the newborn is undergoing a medical examination," ACP Chandra said.
