JOHOR BARU - Police have detained three people for trying to create trouble after the Super League football match between Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) and Perak.

Several fans started to behave in an unruly manner as they were waiting for the players to leave the stadium after the match on Saturday evening.

Trouble started when the police requested the fans to leave the stadium and one of the fans resisted.

Some of the fans verbally abused the police officers while making their way out of the Tan Sri Hassan Yunos Stadium here.

In the chaos, a smoke bomb was ignited and some people were seen damaging a parked vehicle.

Police then moved in quickly to arrest several suspects.

When contacted, Johor Baru (South) OCPD Asst Comm Sulaiman Salleh confirmed that the police had arrested three suspects.

"The three suspects are in their 20s and we are investigating the case under Section 427 of the Penal Code," he said adding that there were about 800 policemen including 30 officers on duty at the stadium.
