Cops seek man who chained, beat up wife

KOTA BARU - Police are searching for the husband of a 21-year old woman who claimed she was chained and beaten by the man after she refused to give him RM100 (S$38).

The man had allegedly assaulted her using the back of an axe at their home in Kampung Temusu in Limbat on Thursday.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Azham Othman said police believed the 26-year old was hiding in the district.

In the 7pm incident, the suspect, believed to be a drug addict, allegedly hit his wife on the head using the back of an axe before putting a metal chain around her neck and padlocking it.

The man jumped out of the window and fled when police came to the house after being alerted by a family member.

Azham said the woman, had been warded at Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital in Kubang Kerian.
