DAP to continue to back Tony Pua over 1MDB statements

GEORGE TOWN - DAP will continue to back Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua, who has been called to pull out from the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) for allegedly prejudging the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) case through media statements.

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng (pic) said on Tuesday that the party will back Pua "all the way" and will not entertain any calls for the latter to step down.

"This (1MDB) is a very big issue so i don't understand why there are certain parties who are trying to get rid of Tony Pua from the PAC, just because he voiced out about the 1MDB scandal.

"I think this is a national interest and as a Member of Parliament, he has a responsibility to speak out on 1MDB.

"PAC chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan has said there's nothing wrong, so why are all these people who are not involved in the PAC so busy-body. Don't be busy body. Jangan bising (Don't be noisy) because it is for the PAC to decide, not for outsiders who are busy body to decide," he told a press conference after officiating the opening of Adventist Oncology Centre at Penang Adventist Hopsital in Burma Road.
