Do not take part in anti-GST rally: Cuepacs

ALOR STAR - Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) president Azih Muda today urged the 1.5 million government servants not to be involved in the anti-Goods and Services Tax (GST) rally.

He said as civil servants, they should not take part on any movement which goes against the government.

"This is not about liberation issue since civil servants had signed an agreement that we are working for the government of the day.

"Why do they still want to join the rally? Those who take part in the rally should quit from their job and take part in politics instead," he said after attending the national-level Civil Servants Labour Day celebration which was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak at Dewan Wawasan in Jitra here today.

"For those (civil servants) who have a keen interest in politic which against the government, they should have contested in any election, not by joining the rally," he said.

On a separate note, Azih thanked Najib for approving a 1,000 unit homes project in Bukit Pinang, Pokok Sena for civil servants in Kedah.

He hoped similar project would be extended to other states.

"This is absolutely a great news especially for civil servants in N17 grade and below," he said.
