Dr Mahathir asked to explain sons' lavish lifestyles

PETALING JAYA - Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad must explain his sons' purported lavish lifestyles if they are not billionaires, says Parti Kita leader Zamil Ibrahim.

He also alleged that the former prime minister's sons owned "super cars" which cost millions and also possessed private jets.

Zamil was responding to Dr Mahathir's blog posting, in which he had hit out at the Kita leader and clarified that his sons were not billionaires, but had borrowed millions to finance their businesses.

"So if his sons are not billionaires, it raises the question as to who is funding their 'super rich' lifestyle," Zamil said in a statement on Friday.

He also urged the former prime minister to cease his "empty talk" on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and submit evidence of his claims to the authorities.

Dr Mahathir responded in his blog, chedet.cc, calling Zamil confused and ignorant.

He also clarified that he had never raised loans to help his sons when he served as prime minister.
