Dr Sahruddin officially clocks in as Johor Mentri Besar

ISKANDAR PUTERI, Malaysia - First-term assemblyman Dr Sahruddin Jamal has officially assumed duties in his new role as Johor Mentri Besar at Kota Iskandar here Monday (April 15).

The Bukit Kepong assemblyman arrived at Bangunan Dato Jaafar Muhammad, which is where the Mentri Besar's Office is located, at 9am sharp.

He was greeted by several state executive councillors, Johor state secretary Datuk Azmi Rohani and several department heads.

Later, former Mentri Besar Datuk Osman Sapian arrived at the same building and officially handed over his duties to Dr Sahruddin.

It was recently reported that Osman, who is also the Kempas assemblyman, resigned as the Johor Mentri Besar on April 8 in a letter to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar then appointed the 43-year-old Dr Sahruddin on Sunday (April 14) as the 17th Johor Mentri Besar at Istana Bukit Serene.
