LANGKAWI - A 36-year-old engineer with a consulting firm who allegedly solicited and accepted bribes amounting to RM30,000 (S$9,569) has been detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
He was detained on Tuesday at about 5.30pm at the Langkawi MACC branch office.
State MACC director Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mohamad said the arrest was carried out after the engineer was alleged to have solicited and accepted the RM30,000 bribe from a sub-contractor, 40, to approve the monthly work progress carried out by the sub-contractor for TNB.
"We are investigating the case under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009," he said.
