KOTA KINABALU - Firemen fighting a fire which razed two wooden houses in Sabah's northern Kota Marudu district were touched when they found the huddled bodies of a father and his young son.

Farmer Maijun Napaas, 42, and four-year-old Alexwin Maijun were found clinging on to each other in the family hall of their house in Kg Kirawangan, Kota Marudu, about 120km from here.

A Sabah Fire and Rescue Services Department spokesman said they received a distress call that two houses were on fire at 1.15am yesterday, adding that when firemen arrived, one of the houses was already razed but they managed to put out the fire.

Firemen found the bodies inside the completely razed house.

The cause of the fire is being investigated. It could not be immediately ascertained how many family members were inside the house at the time of the fire.
