Fisherman found dead in boat

BACHOK - The mystery of a fisherman who went missing after going to sea on Sunday was solved when his body was found in his boat four hours away from Kemasin jetty here yesterday.

The body of Che Ibrahim Che Mud, 38, from Kampung Kubang Kawah, Perupok here was found by a fisherman and relatives who had gone to search for him at 7.30am.

His father, Che Mud Awang, 75, said Che Ibrahim went out to sea alone at 3am on Sunday but failed to return home.

"He normally returns at 10pm but when he did not come back, we searched for him."

The chairman of the Bachok Fishermen Association, Mohd Saripuddin Ishak, said the body was found by 12 fishermen who went out looking for him since Monday.

He said six boats were used to pull the victim's boat back to Bachok.

"After his family informed us about his failure to return home, we went out to look for him on Monday night and Tuesday morning, and found his body in the boat."

Bachok district police chief Deputy Superintendent Ab Rahim Che Ghani confirmed the incident.

He said the body had been sent to Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital in Kota Baru for a post-mortem.

"The case is classified as sudden death."
