Harrowing video shows girl, 2, mowed down by car at petrol kiosk in Malaysia

Young children should never be left unattended, especially not when it's at a petrol station.

On Oct 11, a two-year-old girl was mowed down by a moving car at a petrol kiosk in Klang, Malaysia, and a harrowing clip of the incident quickly went viral on social media.

In CCTV footage captured of the accident, the young girl is seen pacing at a corner of the screen for a few seconds before she runs towards her mum, who is filling up the tank of her motorcycle.

All of a sudden, a car turns the corner and ploughs into the tot, knocking her to the ground and dragging her for several metres under the carriage.

Her mother is shown chasing after the car as the driver speeds away, seemingly unaware of what had happened.

According to the Harian Metro via World of Buzz, the mother, identified only as Nur, "almost fainted" when she finally caught up with the car and saw her daughter, Imana, covered in blood.

Miraculously, the little girl escaped with her life.

Imana suffered a broken left leg, a fractured right shoulder and required stitches to her brow and forehead, but is otherwise in stable condition in hospital.

Nur expressed remorse and admitted to her carelessness in an interview, but was thankful that her daughter was still alive.

She told Harian Metro that the pair were going to the local pasar malam (night market) to do some shopping when she had to make a stop for petrol.

Imana wanted to eat ice cream, so Nur told her to wait at the convenience store in the kiosk while she filled up the tank.

On social media, many netizens berated Nur for her negligence, while some said the driver of the car that hit Imana had been going too fast.
