House in Terengganu hit by vehicles more than 70 times
Vehicles have crashed into a house in Sungai Tong, Terengganu, more than 70 times in the past six years, Harian Metro reported.
The home is near a sharp bend at the 48th kilometre of the Kuala Terengganu-Kota Baru road, heading towards Kuala Terengganu.
Many drivers fail to brake in time and swerve into the house, which is owned by Romly Ismail, 61.
"The accidents have been happening since works to widen the road began in 2011," said the retiree, who lives there with five family members.
The impact of the crashes has caused cracks in the walls.
On May 27, the family was shaken when a trailer collided with a 4WD vehicle outside the house and one of the drivers was killed.
Romly, who used to work in the Fire and Rescue Department, said he was worried for the safety of his grandchildren, who will be coming for the Hari Raya holidays.
The Public Works Department has put up a stone barrier to prevent vehicles from hitting the house in the event of a crash, but Romly said he hoped more signboards and better lighting could be placed there to warn drivers of the bend.
