JITRA, MALAYSIA - A 37-year-old housewife was arrested after police found 98kg of ketum leaves at her house in Kampung Pida 6 Lama, Kordiang, here yesterday.
Acting on a tip-off, a narcotic team raided the suspect's house in Jalan Sanglang Mukim Pering at 1.20am.
Kubang Pasu district police chief Superintendent Ibrahim Mohamed Yusoff said the mother of six was caught red-handed as she was distributing the ketum leaves to a buyer during the raid.
"Police found 653 packets of ketum leaves hidden in the living room and in a four-wheel-drive parked in front of the house."
He said it was the second time police raided the house.
"The suspect's husband was charged last year and was found guilty of selling ketum leaves," he said, adding that the suspect could earn an average of RM15,600 a month with two transactions a week.
