KUALA LUMPUR - Police here are searching for an Irish man who was been missing since New Year's Day.

Steven Warde, 31, who entered Malaysia as a tourist on Nov 15, was last seen three days after Christmas.

It was learnt that he was last seen at Mercu Summer Suite along Jalan Sultan Ismail here.

His mother, Mary Morrissey, was quoted by an Irish news portal issuing a desperate appeal for help to find him.

She said it was very unusual and out of character for the "quiet and placid" man.
