PASIR GUDANG - Iskandar Malaysia will drive the development in south Johor for years to come, according to Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Mohammed Khaled Nordin.

He said: "In just 10 years since the launch of Iskandar Malaysia, we have seen tremendous transformation taking place in south Johor.

"Johor and Singapore could benefit from Iskandar Malaysia, and rather than compete, they should complement each other.

"Johor wants to shed its image as Singapore's backyard or hinterland," Mohammed Khaled told reporters after joining volunteers from the Cher Sir Khor Uplifting Society Masai to distribute free meals to the underprivileged families here.

"There are many opportunities including jobs and businesses for Johoreans and it is up to them to grab these opportunities," he said, adding that state government and stakeholders of Iskandar Malaysia had made efforts to attract investments into the economic region.
