It's taking a toll on us, says pilot's daughter

"The speculation about my dad is torturing the family."

This was a quote attributed to Aishah Zaharie, the daughter of flight MH370 pilot Zaharie Ahmad Shah, by a friend who spoke to an Australian news website.

The friend, who did not want to be identified, said foreign media speculation about Zaharie was "not true and ridiculous".

"He's a nice man and loving father to his children. What has been reported in the news by the international media is very frustrating. They are waiting to blame the pilot, speculation like this is hurting the family," she said.

It was reported that Aishah flew back from Melbourne, where she has lived since 2010, to be with her family in Malaysia to obtain the latest information regarding the whereabouts of MH370. Checks by the New Straits Times showed that all of Zaharie's tweets had been deleted and his Facebook account suspended.

Aishah's Facebook and Instagram accounts had also been set to private. However, support is pouring in for her from friends and relatives.

Nazmi Nazman posted on his Facebook page: "Stay strong Aishah Zaharie, aunty Faizah Khanum Mustafa Khan and family. Our prayer goes to your dad and everyone on board."

Aishah's friend Amirah Hanan wrote: "Stay strong my dear friend Aishah Zaharie."
