Johor police on lookout for 11 on wanted list

JOHOR BARU - Police are seeking 11 indivi­duals on the wanted list under the Prevention of Crime Act 1959, said Johor police chief Comm Datuk Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd.

He said police in the state had arrested 196 people since the enforcement of the Act on April 2 last year, of whom 122 were arrested from Jan 1 until Dec 20 this year.

Thirty of them were placed at the juvenile rehabilitation centre, 65 under police surveillance, 20 detained for 60 days to assist in the probe and seven were freed.

On a separate matter, he said police had raided 1,454 illegal online gambling outlets statewide from Jan 1 to Dec 20 and arrested 2,107 people over online gambling activities.

Police also seized 4,795 units of laptop computers worth RM2.39 million (S$779,800) and RM230,753 in cash during that period.

Comm Wan Ahmad said the Johor Baru South, Johor Baru North, Seri Alam, Nusajaya and Batu Pahat police districts recorded the most illegal online gambling outlets.
