Kajang by-election: Stop picking on MCA, Lim told

Chong said Lim had also gone too far in making false accusations against MCA

PETALING JAYA - DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang should focus more on issues within Pakatan Rakyat instead of tainting MCA, said party Youth chief Chong Sin Woon.

Chong said Lim should focus on the actions of PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the abuse of democracy by PKR in creating the Kajang by-election due to their own internal disputes, rather than picking on MCA.

"Stop evading the issue. Tell (us) what is DAP's stand on the unreasonable and unfair excuses given by Anwar," he said in the statement here yesterday.

Chong said Lim had also gone too far in making false accusations against MCA by claiming that the party had misled Umno over Seputeh MP Teresa Kok's Onederful Malaysia Chinese New Year video clip.

Instead of facing off with Umno leaders over Kok's video clip, Chong said Lim had chosen to fabricate facts and blame MCA.

"It is clear that Lim is afraid of Umno," he said.

The video had drawn criticism from political and civil groups, with some 50 people from several Malay NGOs offering RM1,200 (S$460) to anyone who slaps Kok.

Lim, added Chong, also continued to remain silent on the Bible Society of Malaysia raid by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais), during which 321 Bibles in Malay and Iban were seized.

"In Penang, Lim is also mum over the criticism against Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng about the change of his official car," Chong said.

Guan Eng, who once criticised Terengganu state government over its purchase of 14 Mercedes cars, had come under fire for buying the Mercedes-Benz S300L as his official car.
