BANGI - Appearing calm in front of a large group of supporters, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) candidate Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail is targeting for a comfortable win in the Kajang by-election.

"I hope for a victory that I seek, Insya-Allah and that is the most important," she told reporters at the nomination centre, here, yesterday.

Dr Wan Azizah was accompanied by her husband Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, PKR deputy president Azmin Ali and PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, when she arrived at the nomination centre at about 8.55am.

Dr Wan Azizah filed her nomination papers at 9.10am, with her proposer Muhammad Fazli Ahmad and seconder Sia Wei Shien.

Pakatan Rakyat supporters were seen holding up banners stating "Pray for MH370" while chanting "Lawan, tetap lawan" (fight, we will keep on fighting), in the vicinity of the nomination centre.

Some of them were also spotted holding banners stating, "Kak Wan, lapkan air mata, teruskan perjuangan" (wipe your tears and keep up with the struggle).

In showing support to the PKR candidate, PAS vice-president Salahuddin Ayuh called on Kajang voters to give their support to Dr Wan Azizah.

"The recent conviction of Anwar by the court will enable Wan Azizah to receive more support from Kajang voters," he said in a brief speech.

Khalid, who was present at the press conference, said no decision had been made whether Dr Wan Azizah would be the Selangor mentri besar if she wins the by-election.

"We have yet to make any decision on the matter as we want to win the polls first. We will make the necessary announcement if there is a necessity. Please do not use this as speculation," he said.
