RANAU, Malaysia - An elderly woman who went missing after a landslide on Tuesday was found dead yesterday.

The body of strawberry trader Dohumie Kintie, 78, was found under metres of earth in Kampung Masilou near here.

The victim was believed to be resting there after picking strawberries when the landslide struck two days ago about 10.45am.

State Fire and Rescue Department director Nordin Pauzi said her body was discovered about noon with an excavator and was taken to Ranau Hospital for a post-mortem.

On Tuesday, the septuagenarian had gone strawberry picking alone at the orchard near the village.

Her daughter-in-law, Jaima Undaput, said Dohumie continued working despite a downpour.

Jaima only realised she was missing after the landslide occurred.

The search effort continued yesterday from 8am with the use of the excavator provided by Ranau member of parliament Datuk Dr Ewon Ebin.
