Lovelorn trader goes missing in Sabah forest

SANDAKAN - A businessman from Kuala Lumpur has been reported missing after he was last seen walking into a secondary jungle, near here.

Tan Vui Leong, 30, allegedly failed to patch things up with his girlfriend after she was said to have spurned his advances, which had left him heartbroken.

Tan and a younger sister had earlier flown here in a bid to save the businessman's relationship.

They reportedly met Tan's girlfriend at the Bandar Utama commercial centre.

However the pair failed to convince Tan's girlfriend to change her mind.

His sister said Tan was last seen wandering off into the 4ha forest surrounding the Sabah Forest Department headquarters, about 10km from here, late Wednesday.

She tried to contact him but her calls went unanswered and, on several occasions, were diverted to voice mail.

Five firemen and five policemen began the search for Tan at 10.25pm but was called off at around 11.15pm.

It was resumed early yesterday, said Sandakan police chief Asst Comm Rowell Marong.
