KUALA LUMPUR: The Home Ministry is investigating claims that Jho Low (pic) holds dual citizenship.

The Ministry said the National Registration Department (NRD) has opened a file on the Malaysian-born businessman, whose full name is Low Taek Jho.

"However, there has been no evidence submitted with the complaint sent to NRD, to justify any action against Low under Article 24 of the Federal Constitution (which deals with removal of citizenship when a Malaysian gets or exercises rights of foreign citizenship)," said the Home Ministry in a written reply to a question in Parliament from Ng Wei Aik (DAP-Tanjong) on Monday.

"Therefore, the NRD has submitted an application to validate the citizenship status of the subject (Low) with the country concerned, and will carry out action according procedures as soon as evidence is obtained."

Ng had asked in Parliament about the investigation status and action taken on complaints raised on June 21 last year on Low's dual citizenship.
