A MAN allegedly took money meant for his father's funeral and went missing, leaving his father's ashes in a crematorium in Seremban for weeks.

Major Chinese dailies reported that the funeral parlour operator had to call the deceased's niece after the man failed to turn up, despite notices placed in the Chinese dailies on Oct 21, China Press reported.

The niece, Zheng Jin Hua, said her 37-year-old cousin went missing with the money meant for the funeral ceremony, including RM10,000 given by his mother.

Zheng said they failed to contact the man after the cremation ceremony on Sept 17.

She said the funeral proceeded as scheduled with donations given by the public.
