Malaysia police restructures depts, dissolves counter-terrorism force

Malaysia's police headquarters Bukit Aman's Special Task Force (Operations and Counter-Terrorism) Department will be dissolved on February 1.

Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar said the move was part of a major restructuring of departments within the police force.

"The duties of the department will be absorbed by the Special Branch (SB) and Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID).

"SB will investigate terrorism activities while investigations into money-laundering will be conducted by the CCID," he said, after the retirement ceremony of Federal CCID director Commissioner Syed Ismail Syed Azizan here Wednesday.
